Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop and Prompts - 5 Things

For months now, I have been receiving updates from one of the best blogs in the world via my email.  There is no better way to follow a blog than to get it in your email. (Coincidentally, you can follow this blog the same way. *shameless plug/hint*)  The blog is called Mama's Losin' It and is wrtten by Mama Kat, a hilarious blogger who won me over when she shared how even I could rock bangs.  This beauty secret had me at hello.  Then her Writer's Workshop inspired me to dream of one day actually following a prompt.  (I told you I was lazy.)

That changed today.  I read a prompt I felt I could actually pull off!

2.) Five Things. List 5 things we don’t know about you, 5 things you’re knowledgeable about, 5 things you know nothing about, and 5 things you believe. (inspired by LouLou’s Views)

So, with out further wordy stalling... 5 Things.

5 Things You Don't Know About Me:
1. If I could eat mashed potatoes on a cone like ice cream, I would. If I could eat them like a sundae, they would be topped off with ranch dressing.  (True story.)
2. I used to be a dancer.  Ballet (pointe), tap, jazz... even ballroom, tango and swing.  Dancing was everything.  Then I fell in love with potatoes.
3. I love bacon.  I love cheese.  I hate the two together!
4. I have not bought myself anything brand new in years, with the exception of a couple of books of Amazon that were pretty much free.
5. I am secretly fascinated by natural and man-made disasters.  My first obsession was the Titanic.  Good ole' Leo killed that one for me.  *eye roll*

5 Things I'm Knowledgeable About:
1. Cloth Diapering.  I skill that would have saved us a boat load of cash, had we the cash to save.
2. Couponing. A recently gained knowledge that I am still refining.  The same save/cash/boat thing applies here.  However, at times, it has also been profitable.
3. Breastfeeding.  Another money saving skill.  While, I can't say it's why I did it with all 3 of my kids, I can say it's why I stuck with it for as long as I did.
4. Reselling.  eBay, consignment sale, garage sale, flea market, CraigsList, news printed ads, and at one time, my own website.  I have done it all.  At times, I even succeeded at it.
5. Mental Illness.  More specifically, Bipolar, Depression and Anxiety.  Not a skill or a hobby, but still a deeply rooted subject I will forever be learning more and more about.

5 Things I Know Nothing About:
1. How to change a flat tire (or anything else car related).  Something my Mom said I should know in order to survive and I FAILED!  However, I did find and fall in love with someone who did that sort of thing for a living.  Close enough in my book.
2. How to sew.  And I SHOULD!!  I was taught.  (again.. Mom. Survival. Fail!) But I can knit.  Does that count?
3. How they get a whole chicken in a can.  And for that matter, brown bread!  I don't get it!  Don't know that I want to either.  However, for survival sake, I could at least open them.  I'm not that much of a failure.  (take that, MOM!)
4. What the optimal 3 questions to ask a genie would be.  So let's hope this job never lands in my lap.
5. How many licks does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a tootsie pop.  More importantly, how you would go about figuring that out with out shattering it with your teeth first.  Luckily, no one's survival is based on the longevity of a lolly in my possession.  And if it were... we would all be doomed.

5 Things I Believe:
1. Dust bunnies are stealing socks from my dryer and hiding pens and marker tops in them.
2. My children were all born with hormone detectors that wake them up and direct them towards our bedroom anytime we even think of spending "quality time" together.
3. Families who are struggling now will produce children who better understand the value of a dollar and will spend more wisely than those who were raised in more profitable times, resulting in our tired old butts being parked in a less lavish "rest home" because the shack on the corner was cheaper!
4.  Buying used has its perks.  One being, all items have been previously tested in a real life scenario.  And survived.
5. If you spend all your time concentrating on perfection and the fine details, you will miss out on all the wonderful small things that make all the crap you do worth while.

I love your list! I'm so with you on the potatoes-I think they should be their own food group. And it's good to know I'm not the only one whose dryer eats socks, especially child-sized ones.
I'm stopping by from Mama Kat's.
